Developer and supplier of online casino content Yggdrasil Gaming has directed its expansion efforts toward yet another regulated jurisdiction. The company today announced the beginning of a certification process that would ensure that its products are compliant with Italian iGaming regulations.
An initial roll-out of Yggdrasil Gaming products is anticipated to occur sometime in the second quarter of the year and will include 11 of its most popular online slot titles. Italy-facing operators who opt for the supplier’s products will also be able to take advantage of its promotional tools, including BOOST and the recently launched BRAG.
As the Italian iGaming market has been paying more and more attention to innovating the mobile channel in a response to the growing demand for mobile gaming products, gaming companies with operations in the jurisdiction will be able to boost their performance with Yggdrasil Gaming’s HTML5 platform. Generally speaking, the product in question is aimed at lessening the challenges related to the integration and launch of games simultaneously across desktop and mobile.
Commenting on the company’s upcoming launch in Italy, CEO Fredrik Elmqvist said that they are glad to have entered one of Europe’s fastest-growing iGaming markets. The executive added that they have been working with Italy-facing operators and have thus gained the necessary knowledge about the regulated jurisdiction to make a “no-brainer” decision to expand there.
Part of the larger Cherry AB gambling group, Yggdrasil Gaming has made it one of its core tasks to expand into regulated iGaming markets. Malta, where the company is headquartered, was the first regulated jurisdiction it obtained a license from. In April 2013, the Malta Gaming Authority granted the game development studio a Class 4 license, allowing it to provide hosting and management services to interested iGaming operators.
In the summer of 2015, Yggdrasil Gaming was awarded licenses by the UK Gambling Commission – a Remote Casino (B2B) one and a Gambling Software – Remote one. This made it possible for the rapidly growing supplier to provide its games and tools to UK-facing operators and thus to UK-based gambling customers.
The Gibraltar Regulatory Authority was the next regulatory body to greenlight Yggdrasil Gaming’s operations. The company received a Remote Gambling (B2B) license from the regulator in June 2016.
Most recently, Yggdrasil Gaming went live in Romania, where it holds two licenses from the local gambling regulatory body – Oficiul National pentru Jocuri de Noroc, both authorizing the provider to manage and host iGaming facilities on its platform and to distribute its content to Romania-facing operators.
